Blinds Glossary

Cellular Shades:

Standard Cord Lift: A cord will raise the shade from the bottom.

Cordless: Eliminates all cord controls. Raised and lowered by the bottom rail of the shade.
Control Position - Left: Control will be on the left side when you are facing the shade.
Control Position - Right: Control will be on the right side when you are facing the shade.
Top Down, Bottom Up: The shade can be raised or lowered from the top and bottom. The shade will have two controls; the right cord will operate the bottom of the shade, while the left cord will operate the moving rail from the top of the shade.
Faux & Real Wood Blinds:
Standard Cord Lift: A cord will raise the shade from the bottom.
Control Position - Tilt Left, Lift Right: Tilting mechanism will be on the left side of the blind and the lifting mechanism will be on the right side as you are facing the blind.
Control Position - Tilt Right, Lift Left: Tilting mechanism will be on the right side of the blind and the lifting mechanism will be on the left side as you are facing the blind.
Tilt Mechanism - Wand: Traditional method of tilting the slats. Length is usually 1/2 to 2/3 the total blind height.
Tilt Mechansim - Cord: The tilt cord will coordinate with the lifting cords. Not recommended for same side controls as the tilt and lift cords will tangle. Recommended for larger shades as it operates under less strain than the wand tilt.

Mini Blinds:
Standard Cord Lift: A cord will raise the shade from the bottom.
Tilt Mechanism - Wand: Traditional method of tilting the slats. Length is usually 1/2 to 2/3 the total blind height.
Added Privacy Feature (Routeless): With routless blinds, the lift cord does not pass through the center of the slats, eliminating the rout hole. This allows for greater light control and the slats can be removed easily for cleaning.
Control Position - Tilt Left, Lift Left: Tilting mechanism will be on the left side of the blind and the lifting mechanism will be on the left side as you are facing the blind.
 
Panel Tracks:
Control - Wand: Traditional method of tilting the slats. Length is usually 1/2 to 2/3 the total blind height.
Control Position - Right: Wand will be on the right side on the panel track as you face the blind.
Draw - Right: Panels will draw and stack to the right side of the blind when opened.
 
Roman Shades:
Fold Style - Looped: Soft folds cascade down the front panel at approximately 5.5" to 8" intervals, depending on shade height. When raised, shade folds up evenly at the top.
Fold Style - Hobbled: The shade retains its fold even when in the lowered position.
Control Position - Left: Control will be on the left side when you are facing the shade.
Control Position - Right: Control will be on the right side when you are facing the shade.
Standard Cord Lift: A cord will raise the shade from the bottom.
Continuous Cord Loop: Recommended for larger shades. The cord will always retain its cord length regardless of where the shade is drawn.

Vertical Blinds:
Control Type - Chain: A fabric cord will draw the vanes, while a chain will tilt the vanes open and close.
Control Position - Right: Control will be on the right side when you are facing the shade.
Stack - Left: When opening the blind, vanes will draw to the left side as you are facing the blind.
Stack - Center Split: When opening the blind, vanes will draw away from the center towards both sides of the blind.
